Goodbye Canada….smell ya later!

July 2

Early to rise. Coffee in hand. Bags packed. Excited hearts.

We thought it would be fun to cross over to the US via ferry so we made the 2 hours drive (after a Tim Hortons detour for breaky) to Sombra where we took the tiny 12 car ferry across the water. We were one of two cars that took the ferry and with minimal questions from the border guard made for a pretty easy crossing. We decided early on we would drive until delirium in the hopes to get as close to Denver as possible. We stopped at a Sapp Brother’s truck stop in Illinois off the highway. The barista at the coffee stand (I’m going to call her Megan) offered a .10 discount on my coffee if I knew the answer to this question. What is the only rock that floats? Anyone????????? Neither of us knew the answer, Mat thought he was clever and said Poprocks but Megan didn’t seem impressed. I still got the discount for attempting an answer

Drove over 1000km’s, 5 states (Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, Iowa and Nebraska), 3 different flavours of combos and 1 bag of beef jerky later….we made it to Omaha! Sleepy time at a Sapp Brother’s truck stop…this should be interesting.
