July 4
What can we say about Independence Day in A great American
city like Denver… It was very patriotic. EVERYWHERE. We moved out of Laurens and into our new Airbnb home
with Laura and Craig. They
were great hosts and had a beautiful dog named Cosmo and a Turtle J. We were set to stay for 2 nights and
were very comfortable there. Once
we were settled in we decided to get our bikes out and ride to Coors Field to
get some scalped tickets for the Colorado Rockies vs Los Angeles
Dodgers(fitting that they are playing LA). About half way through our ride it started to rain. So that
was an interesting experience in a foreign city. We were wearing our rain coats
so we weren’t completely soaked.
The rain moved out so there was no delay to the game start. We bought some Coors Banquet king cans(710ml)
and bottomless popcorn and found our seats. The pregame show was an amateur hot dog eating contest. Mat
was too late to try to compete. The
national anthem gave us goose bumps!
The game was a bit of a route with LA winning 8-0. After the game they had scheduled
fireworks. IT WAS AWESOME! After the fireworks we went to check
out the night life. We ended up at a bar called The Tavern where we received a
buy one get one drink deal when we gave them our tickets from the game. The DJ was playing some decent music
mixed with some old hip hop so that was fun. A leisurely bike ride home listening to some of our favorite
American inspired music and our first Independence Day in ‘Merica was complete.
